Happy Thanksgiving 2018!

This is the time of year not only to celebrate but also remember our blessings. One of the most precious blessing is our own personal mind. It allows us to time travel from the past into the future and back again. It is also the seat of our most pleasant memories.

There have been many posts on aging and how the active use of our minds can allow us to thwart dementia and Alzheimer’s even with the defining neurofibrillary tangles and amyloid plaques.

The common phrase is to use it or lose it, but HM thinks we should all do one step better, and that is to grow it and develop it. One can do this regardless of age. Mental processes can slow down, but that is largely due to the greater amount of information stored in our brains. But we can continue to learn new subjects and skills. We can learn to dance or learn new dances. We can take up new skills such as painting or acting.

Such activities provide for a more enjoyable and fulfilling life. Don’t be a cognitive miser.
